Acrylic and Mixed Media / Abstract

Abstraction for me is an intuitive process. It is a conversation with the canvas or wood panel as it changes. I am led by colours textures and forms. Almost always there is music playing in the air or only in my head and its colours and forms enter the piece. Sometimes I am joyful and this leaks into the canvas. Sometimes I am sad or angry and I merely paint myself happy. Sometimes things I have found physically enter the piece and create a story. If ghosts of images or memories of places appear; I let them stay.

Acrylic and Mixed Media/ Figurative

If I am working from an idea I need to use a narrative of sorts so figurative elements appear. ideas include political, current events, literary or my own poetry. I do not actually work from visual sources other than my own face or sometimes my childrens’ (individual or composite).
